Service is an important part of my work as a philosopher and teacher. My service at LMU has focused on academic programs, accessibility, and support for students and colleagues. I helped develop the Disability Studies minor and have served on the BCLA Curriculum and Assessment Committee and the Disability Support Services Advisory Committee. Within the Philosophy Department, I have advised majors, served on graduate admissions and faculty search committees, mentored colleagues, and supported student activities as faculty advisor to Phi Sigma Tau.
I currently serve as coordinator of the Philosophy Department Colloquium Series. In this role, I organize talks that bring visiting scholars into conversation with our students and faculty. The series offers a forum for new research, thoughtful disagreement, and discussion across philosophical fields and traditions. I especially value the opportunity it gives students to encounter philosophy as a living practice and to take part in conversations beyond the classroom.
Since 2022, I have organized over fifty events for LMU’s Philosophy Department Colloquium Series. The program brings together scholars working in different areas of philosophy and offers several ways to engage with their ideas, from research talks and discussions to larger panels. Topics have ranged from historical philosophical texts to contemporary questions about ethics and artificial intelligence. I value the variety of the series: it gives students and faculty opportunities to encounter work outside their own interests, ask questions of visiting scholars, and continue the conversation beyond the classroom.
Beyond LMU, I serve in leadership and planning roles with several scholarly societies, including the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, the Society for Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy, and the Aquinas and the Arabs International Working Group. I also serve on the editorial board of the European Journal for the Study of Thomas Aquinas and as the Book Review Editor for the American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly.
These commitments give me opportunities to support the work of other scholars and sustain the communities in which philosophical inquiry takes place. A full list of my service roles and appointments is available in my CV.
